Ways to Defy Aging

It's frustrating when you wake up in the morning and you look at the mirror, you see pronounced lines and wrinkles on your face. These are the scary signs of aging. But before you freak out, check out our 5 ultimate tips to look 10 years younger at your age! Let's defy aging!

1.   Exfoliate
Exfoliating once every other day can give you a younger look as it removes your dead skin cells and promotes faster skin cell turnover. It also hydrates, boosts elasticity and leave your skin looking healthier, rejuvenated and firm.

2.   Moisturize
Moisturize to Defy Aging
Think of wearing a pair of leather shoes every day without using any shoe polish or any conditioning product. Over time, it will produce cracks and deep crevices. Same thing happens to our skin if we don't moisturize it. Because of its long exposure to wind, sun, pollution and stress, it causes your face dryness and flakiness.

For people with dry to normal type of skin, moisturize your face at least once a day. However, your skin face is oily, this should only be done thrice a week.

3. Consider taking collagen
Basically, collagen is the most abundant type of protein in your body. It promotes strength and elasticity of our skin and aids cell repair. But as we age, the production of this protein slows down, which causes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Taking collagen increases smoothness and it helps your skin to look firm and smoother. Check out the best-selling collagen on Amazon!

4. Go natural and use honey
Honey, Yogurt and Honey Mask for Anti Aging
Honey is really a powerful gift of nature. Because it is a natural humectant, it helps to revitalize your skin giving you a long-lasting natural hydration. Honey promotes tissue repair and it decreases the appearance of your age spots. Moreover, honey has also skin brightening properties which are good to those who suffer from dry skin.

To use honey as an anti-aging mask, simply massage 1 teaspoon of honey on your face and leave it for 15 minutes then wash it off. You may also want to add different ingredients like lemon juice, or strawberry to emphasize the results that you want. Make sure you check out our 5 DIY honey masks recipes to learn more.

5. The Power of Serum
Apply a potent anti-aging micro-glycolic serum twice daily. 4-Step Skin Care Routine For Men (+13 Bonus Tips For a Healthier and Rejuvenated Face)

4:57 AM 5 Comments

Easy skin care routine for men

Face is the first thing people notice and the last thing they forget. As a modern man, you should know the proper ways to take care of your face as this announces your health, age and vitality. Men's skin care routine doesn't have to be as complex as women's, requiring different layers of facial creams. In this post, we'll be presenting to you the 4 easy steps that you can follow for a healthier and rejuvenated skin. But before anything else, you might ask:

Why do Men Have Different Skin Care Routine?
Men's skin is 25% thicker than women's and it secretes more sebum which can clog pores and may eventually develop to acne. With that being said, men's skin requires different formulation and techniques to properly account for such differences.

The Most Common Error Men Make
Majority of men simply use an ordinary bar soap or they just do nothing at all! To achieve a healthier, oil free and acne-free skin, they should:
     ⦿  Cleanse
     ⦿  Tone
     ⦿  Exfoliate
     ⦿  Moisturize

Cleanse
Best Facial Wash For MenWhether you have a day or night job, dirt and oil accumulate on your face. Such pollutants are often deeply-seated and using an ordinary bar soap is not enough. So to effectively remove them, you need a gentle facial cleanser.

Make sure the your facial cleanser doesn't contain harsh ingredients like sodium lauryl sulfate, ammonium lauryl sulfate, and parabens, These ingredients dehydrate skin and they leave residue which clogs your pores.

Best toner for men
Tone
This part should not be skipped to achieve a healthy skin. But why do you really need to use a toner after washing your face?

Our skin has a pH balance of 5.5 and water, depending where you live, has a pH balance as high as 9.5. When you wash your face, the water completely distorts your skin's pH balance. By using a toner, it instantly restores your skin's pH balance.

Another thing is when you wash your face, it may leave residue that clogs your pores and using a toner can effectively remove it. When using a toner, it is suggested to use an alcohol-free one. We always want to put something gentle on our face so as to avoid irritation and dehydration.

Exfoliate
best exfoliator for menSometimes you wonder why an acne product doesn't work for you. This is because dry skin cells block all the minerals found on your skin care product. By exfoliating your face, you welcome these minerals giving your skin a healthier, younger and rejuvenated look.

How often should you exfoliate your face?
Exfoliation should be done once every other day. On the other hand, too much exfoliation is not good. It will only make your skin irritated, stressed and dull. Moreover, if you exfoliate your face too frequent, you'll end up exfoliating even the good skin cells which act as a protective barrier against harmful elements.

Moisturize
Seriously? Yes, moisturizing your face is also an important step of your skin care routine. Imagine you wear a leather shoes every day without conditioning them and see what will happens. Over time, it will get deep crevices and cracks. Men's skin should also be moisturized so as to avoid the dehydration and premature aging.

Men with oily skin can skip this part. For dry to normal type of skin, it is suggested to use a moisturizer right after you tone your face.

Conclusion
There you have it, the four simple steps of men's skin care routine for a healthier and rejuvenated skin. Indeed skin care routine is not only for women. The fact that men HAVE skin clearly explains that we need to take care of it as well..
skin care tips for men

We would also like to share to you our 13 bonus tips for a healthier skin. Here are they:
⦿  Wash your face twice a day. One when you wake up and one before you go to bed. Washing your face too much may irritate your skin.
⦿  Apply generous amount of sunblock (SPF 20 or higher) every time you go outside.
⦿  Men with oily skin may also moisturize their face thrice a week. But don't forget to use a water-based moisturizer.
⦿  Always stay hydrated. Six to eight glasses of water is still the ultimate secret to a healthier skin.
⦿  Always clean your phone or use an earpiece when calling to avoid acne breakouts on cheeks and on the jawline.
⦿  If you want to decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on your face, use products with retinol.
⦿  Don't overdo sugars. High sugar diets cause inflammation which can lead to breakouts.
     ⦿  Get enough of sleep.
⦿  Quit smoking or stay away from someone who smokes. Smoke decreases circulation and the collagen production, which results to premature aging. Additionally, smoke makes your face sallow and pale.
⦿  Use lip balm or petroleum jelly to prevent chapped lips.
⦿  Invest in a great razor.
⦿  Your face has also muscles and just like any other muscles in our body, face needs an exercise as well. Press between your brows and on your eyes outer corners. Look up then squint. Repeat six times.
⦿  Eat leafy and green vegetables like spinach and arugula for a radiant and blemish-free complexion.

5 Simple DIY Honey Mask Recipes

8:04 PM , 0 Comments

diy mask recipe

We have discussed in our previous article the 5 skin care benefits that we can get from honey. It helps fight acne, it moisturizes and exfoliates our skin, and ultimately, it whitens and decreases the appearance of our scars. Today, we'll be showing you some of the organic ingredients that you can incorporate with honey to maximize the benefits. So, let's get started!

Super Moisturizing Mask
This is great for those who are suffering dull and dry skin. For this type of mask, we'll be using the following ingredients:
     ⦿  1 teaspoon of honey
⦿  1 teaspoon of coconut oil
⦿  1 teaspoon of mashed avocado.

avocado face maskJust a tip, you can use your fork to easily mash the avocado. So for the steps, all you need to do is to mix the ingredients thoroughly on a bowl. Then using your clean fingers, gently massage it to your face for about 1-2 minutes then let the concoction sit for maximum of 15 minutes. Wash it off with warm water then gently pat off with tissue. Using tissue instead of your regular face towel better absorbs and rids the excess coconut oil in your face which may cause your pores to clog.

Additional Tips:
You may want to steam your face first before you put your mask. This promotes better penetration of the vitamins and minerals. Also, as much as possible, use an organic type of honey, but you'll be fine with natural honey as well.

Brightening Face Mask
In this mask, we'll be adding two more super powerful ingredients when it comes to skin brightening, the yogurt and strawberry. The former is rich in lactic acid which is really good in exfoliation, hydration and it promotes smoother skin. On the other hand, strawberry is rich in vitamin B5 which brightens dull skin and helps reduce the appearance of acne scars.
honey mask

 Here are the ingredients:
     ⦿  1 ripe, mashed strawberry
     ⦿  1 teaspoon of honey
     ⦿  1 teaspoon of yogurt

Simply concoct the three ingredients on a bowl and with your clean fingers, slather it on your face. Leave the concoction for 10-15 minutes until it dries completely. Using warm water, rinse it off while gently massaging it. Then splash your face with cold water.

Additional Tips:
Do not rub the mask too much on your face as the strawberry already contains exfoliating properties. It will only redden and irritate your face if you do it too much. To help calm your face after washing, wrap ice cubes on a piece of a clean cotton cloth then gently rub it on your face.

Goodbye Acne Mask
We have already discussed on our previous article the anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties of honey. Additionally, it also produces hydrogen peroxide and this particular compound is used as antiseptic. So to maximize the acne-fighting benefit of honey, here are the additional ingredients that you'll be needing:
egg lemon mask
via thekitchenmccabe.com
     ⦿  1/2 small lemon
     ⦿  1 egg white

On a bowl, squeeze the lemon juice (make sure you remove the seeds) then add the honey and the egg white. Mix thoroughly  with a fork or with a whisk until you achieve a fluffy consistency. Then using your makeup brush or a cotton ball, apply it gently on your face. Leave the concoction for about 15 minutes then wash it off.

Additional Tip:
Because of the acidic nature of lemon, this
type of mask may sting to some. It's a natural sensation but if it's unbearable or you're irritated with the ingredient, you may consider to use less lemon or dilute the mask with water.

Honey Mask for Oily Skin
carrot honey mask for oily skinFor this type of mask, we'll be needing two ingredients:
     ⦿  2-3 carrots mashed
     ⦿  4 1/2 tablespoon of honey

Carrot is rich in vitamins A, C and potassium. Essentially, vitamins A and C are antioxidants. To do this, mix the ingredients thoroughly then massage the concoction for 1-2 minutes then leave it on your face for about 15 minutes. Wash it off.

Additional Tip:
It's better to refrigerate the mixture for 10 minutes before applying to face.

Simply Honey
Yes that's right! You can use honey independently and it can give you the benefits of hydration, whitening, acne solution and exfoliation even without the other ingredients. Basically, you will just apply this just like an ordinary beauty cream for face and leave it for 15 minutes. The good thing is you can leave it it for as long as you want for better vitamin and mineral penetration.

There you have it, the 5 super easy do it yourself honey masks. Don't forget to share this with your friends!

What Exactly is Retinol and How can it Help me Look Younger?

10:07 AM 0 Comments

effective retinol products

Over the past several years, we have been hearing more and more about retinol and its beneficial effects on our skin specifically. It has become the latest and greatest for anti-aging companies, claiming to be a miracle cure for all those inevitable wrinkles and signs of aging. But what is this supposed miracle cure for getting old? And does it really work? Well we have compiled a quick overview of this vitamin to take some of the guess work out of it for you and to help you decide whether or not this is something that will work for you.

What is Retinol
First of all, retinol is a form of vitamin A that is found naturally only in animal products such as fish oils and liver. It is an anti-oxidant that may be beneficial in reducing free radicals which can lead to certain cancers. Retinol helps to increase cell growth and therefore it can help to improve skin cells on your face. It is best used as a topical cream if you are looking to reduce the signs on aging. It can be taken internally, but large doses can be toxic, so care must be taken.

Use of Retinol
Retinol was initially used as a treatment to help people who suffered from acne, but soon other results were noticed. Sun damage and wrinkles were also noticeable affected. Using a product that contains sufficient retinol can have beneficial results on your skin, making it feel firmer and softer. As well your overall skin condition will improve as dead skin is sloughed off as new cells are generated. It can also help reduce age spots and you will notice less fine lines and wrinkles after only a few weeks.

Retinol is effective because of its natural ability to be absorbed through the first layers of your skin to the deeper layers that contain collagen and elastin. Elastin is a protein that helps to maintain your skin's elasticity and collagen actually works the opposite in helping to maintain your skin's firmness. Elastin is not produced by your body after puberty, so applying retinol is one of the best ways to support your skins elasticity.

Retinol also helps to improve the production of new skin cell growth and it repairs damaged cells as well. The main cause of skin damage is from the sun. But other causes of skin damage are preventable by avoiding pollution and smoking. You often can see the effects that smoking cigarettes can have on your friend's faces when they are smokers.

Finding a product that contains Retinol is an excellent way to address your anti-aging concerns. Products like Kollagen Intensiv have been clinically proven to not only reduce fine lines and wrinkles but also to help repair damaged skin caused by the sun and other affects. The scientists and researchers who have developed this amazing anti-aging product containing retinol fully guarantee results – so you have nothing to lose except a few wrinkles and age spots! So why not give Kollagen Intensiv a try. You will be happy that you did.

10 Shocking Causes of Acne: Know These Before It Gets Worse

8:33 AM 0 Comments

what are the causes of acne

Acne is the most common skin condition according to the American Association of Dermatology. It may develop almost anywhere in your body, however in most cases, acne develops in face, shoulders, neck, chest and back. Despite several acne products available in the market, some people are still having a hard time in controlling them. But before you use a product, you should know first what really causes acne so you can properly address the problem.

In this article, we compiled  the top 10 causes of this stubborn condition that you probably not aware of and here are they:

1. Eating Spicy Foods
Usually, spicy foods have pepper and tomatoes which contain acidic lycopene. Some people are allergic and irritant to this type of food, throwing off their PH level which may eventually lead to acne. However, spicy foods are not the only type of food that may cause acne. It varies from person to person. For instance, someone may be allergic to bread or say, dairy.

Advice for you: Study and identify which  food/s which likely contributes to your acne. This can be a spicy, oily or sweet food. Take a break with that food for a month and see if that what really causes your acne.

2. Stress
Breakouts are more likely to occur to students and individuals who have stressful jobs. Many experts have suggested that stress is one of the common causes of acne. Considering having acne results to more stress, it's truly a vicious cycle. Essentially, when our body is stressed, it stimulates our skin to produce more stress hormones and cortisol, which eventually triggers the production of more oil. Such oil accumulates dirt and clogs our pores.

Advice for you: Take a rest if necessary. Meditate or exercise regularly. You may want to revise your schedule and try to minimize your workloads in a day.

3. Products with Pore-clogging Ingredients
You bought a facial cream or an acne wash to cure it but hey, you might be aggravating the problem! Some creams and wash have mineral oils which are very heavy for our face, leading you to break out. Another ingredient that may cause acne is the silicone, which is widely used in makeups and other skin care products.

Advice for you: When you will buy a product, whether it's related to skin care or cosmetics, ask or check the label if it says "noncomedogenic." This term means that the product is free from any ingredient that may clog your pores. However, just because a product is noncomedogenic, it doesn't mean that you are now safe from breakouts. It's better to consult a dermatologist so you would be mindful of other ingredients that might be contributing to your acne.

4. Poor Skin Hygiene
Each day, whether you have a day or night job, dirt accumulates on your face that causes bacteria. This bacteria then develops to acne.

Advice for you: Regularly wash your face with a gentle facial cleanser followed by an alcohol-free toner. Yes, you need to use a toner afterwards. Washing your face with a cleanser leaves soap residue to your face which can also clog your pores so to avoid this, use an alcohol-free toner as the culminating part of your skin care routine.

5. Your Hair Products
As mentioned in number 3, mineral oils and silicone may likely cause you to break out. Surprisingly, your hair products like shampoo use moisturizing agents and silicone and when you rinse your hair, it flows down to you chest and shoulders. This explains the cause of your neck, shoulder and chest acne.

Advice for you: Bow down or tilt your head to the side when rinsing your hair and right after rinsing your face, wash your face once again to make sure that your face is free from any of these acne-causing ingredients

6. You have an Overly Active Sebaceous Gland
Basically, sebaceous gland secretes oil matter called sebum into your hair follicles. As we know, excess oil accumulates dirt on your face, clogs the pores then it develops to acne, and in some cases, it may lead to cysts.

Advice for you: To normalize the secretion of sebum, there are some topical acne treatments that can help, however, it may take some time for you to discover what is really working for you.

7. Touching Your Face Often
Admit it, some of us can't help but to touch our faces and check what's on it. Or most of the times we are not aware that we're doing this. For example you are resting your arms then you suddenly put your face on your chin. Another example is when sleeping on a table. You tend to put your arms on your forehead or on your cheeks.

Advice for you: Wash your hands often and bring hand sanitizer all the times. Also, clean your phones or use an ear piece instead when calling someone.

8. Hormones
This one is for women who are suffering from cyclical breakouts.During ovulation, your body experiences a hormone fluctuation which causes the aforesaid breakouts. This is completely normal however can still be frustrating to some.

Advice for you: One may take an estrogen dominant birth control pill week before or in some cases, 2 weeks after your monthly visit. Estrogen dominant birth control pill is the easiest and the fastest way to control and manage acne.

9. Over Exfoliation
Most exfoliating products causes dryness to your skin which signal your gland to product more oil than usual. Moreover, excess exfoliation removes even the healthy skin cells which act as a protective barrier of your skin against harmful elements.

Advice for you: Allow your skin to rest. One of the signs of over exfoliation is shiny forehead. You need to take a break and allow your skin to recover. Then slowly reintroduce exfoliation to your face and make sure you don't use it more than once every other day.

10. Wrong Detergent
The problem may be on the clothes you wear or probably on your pillow cases and blankets. Some chemicals in your detergent are too harsh and it may irritate your skin and once you wear your clothes or lie on your bed, your face or skin may acquire the soap residue left on the fabric. This causes your acne on your butt, face, shoulders or neck.

Advice for You: It always pays to check the label. Use detergent products which are dye-free and fragrance-free.

Conclusion
The cause of acne is not only dirt. There are other factors like your environment, the products that you use and your diet. Knowing these 10 causes of acne can help you address the problem properly and soon, you'll achieve the clearer skin that you always dream of having.

So what are the benefits that we can get from yogurt? Here are some of them:
     ●  it has zinc which does a great job in drying your acne
     ●  it helps tighten pores
     ●  it exfoliates rough and dry skin
     ●  it prevents oily face
     ●  it has natural skin brightener properties.

There are three kinds of Yogurt mask in this tutorial depending on your desired outcome: 1) the skin brightening mask, 2) the deep-moisturizing mask and lastly, 3) a general skin care mask.

Skin Brightening Mask
For this type of mask, you need:
     ●  2 pieces of strawberries
     ●  1 tablespoon of yogurt (natural/plain)
     ●  1 teaspoon of honey

On a plate, mash the strawberry using a fork then combine all the ingredients. Then using a brush, put the mixture on your face for about 15 minutes then wash it off.

Strawberry is rich in vitamin C which fights free radicals that steals oxygen from our healthy cells. The juice of strawberry is also effective in removing acne scars and is very efficient in lightening skin blemishes.

On the other hand, both honey and yogurt have anti-bacterial and brightening properties. This type of face mask is also great in preventing oily skin.

Deep Moisturizing Mask
If you are suffering from dry and dull skin, try this deep moisturizing yogurt mask. To do this, you need the following ingredients:
     ●  1 tablespoon of yogurt (natural/plain)
     ●  1/4 of avocado (mashed)
     ●  1 teaspoon of olive oil

Simply mix all of the ingredients on a bowl then using a brush, apply it on your face. Leave it for 15 minutes then wash it off. Viola! After your first wash, you can notice your face has become a little bit tighter and highly moisturized.

The extract of the avocado fruit is rich in moisturizing fats that can give your face a naturally hydrated finish. Moreover, The olive oil has anti-aging properties which are good in preventing pronounced lines to appear on the skin.

General Skin Care Yogurt Mask
As mentioned on the earlier part of this article, yogurt does a very good job in preventing oily face, exfoliation, removing acne, minimizing pores, moisturizing and anti-aging. You can get all of the benefits by just using a plain yogurt. The steps are still the same, with your brush, apply it on your face then wash after leaving for about 15 minutes.

Just in case you have excess yogurt mask, you may want to put this on a plastic container and store in a cool temperature. Its shelf life is 3-7 days. To achieve maximum benefits, do this for at least once a week.
