Skin Care Tips 101: DIY Yogurt Mask

Yogurt is a highly nutritious food packed with zinc, potassium, calcium and other vitamins and minerals. But did you know that aside from being a great and healthy snack for our tummy, yogurt can provide amazing benefits to our skin? As such, even the famous Cleopatra used yogurt as part of her skin regimen.

So what are the benefits that we can get from yogurt? Here are some of them:
     ●  it has zinc which does a great job in drying your acne
     ●  it helps tighten pores
     ●  it exfoliates rough and dry skin
     ●  it prevents oily face
     ●  it has natural skin brightener properties.

There are three kinds of Yogurt mask in this tutorial depending on your desired outcome: 1) the skin brightening mask, 2) the deep-moisturizing mask and lastly, 3) a general skin care mask. 

Skin Brightening Mask
For this type of mask, you need:
     ●  2 pieces of strawberries
     ●  1 tablespoon of yogurt (natural/plain)
     ●  1 teaspoon of honey

On a plate, mash the strawberry using a fork then combine all the ingredients. Then using a brush, put the mixture on your face for about 15 minutes then wash it off.

Strawberry is rich in vitamin C which fights free radicals that steals oxygen from our healthy cells. The juice of strawberry is also effective in removing acne scars and is very efficient in lightening skin blemishes. 

On the other hand, both honey and yogurt have anti-bacterial and brightening properties. This type of face mask is also great in preventing oily skin.

Deep Moisturizing Mask
If you are suffering from dry and dull skin, try this deep moisturizing yogurt mask. To do this, you need the following ingredients:
     ●  1 tablespoon of yogurt (natural/plain)
     ●  1/4 of avocado (mashed)
     ●  1 teaspoon of olive oil

Simply mix all of the ingredients on a bowl then using a brush, apply it on your face. Leave it for 15 minutes then wash it off. Viola! After your first wash, you can notice your face has become a little bit tighter and highly moisturized.

The extract of the avocado fruit is rich in moisturizing fats that can give your face a naturally hydrated finish. Moreover, The olive oil has anti-aging properties which are good in preventing pronounced lines to appear on the skin.

General Skin Care Yogurt Mask
As mentioned on the earlier part of this article, yogurt does a very good job in preventing oily face, exfoliation, removing acne, minimizing pores, moisturizing and anti-aging. You can get all of the benefits by just using a plain yogurt. The steps are still the same, with your brush, apply it on your face then wash after leaving for about 15 minutes.

Just in case you have excess yogurt mask, you may want to put this on a plastic container and store in a cool temperature. Its shelf life is 3-7 days. To achieve maximum benefits, do this for at least once a week.
